Though she won’t explicitly deny dating Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, Kate Hudson says people are getting worked up over the littlest things when it comes to their romantic lives, like when the two were caught smooching at the AMAs .

“There’s a guy that’s shooting probably 60 frames a minute,” Hudson, 30, tells Harper’s Bazaar for its January issue, out Dec. 15. “That was a sideswipe on the cheek. That wasn’t even a kiss. I quickly kissed the cheek. And I remember one of the headlines the next day said, MAKEOUT SESSION. What is wrong with people?”

Previous speculation has gotten so outlandish that she’s been reported as being romantically linked to platonic friends she’s known for over a decade, she says.

“If I walk out on the street with any man, I’m dating him. I’ve been dating two of my best friends from high school who are like girls to me,” she says. “I’m not going to hide going to breakfast.”

But whoever her current beau is, she says her family’s welcomed all her boyfriends into their household.

“My mother [Goldie Hawn] never shook anybody’s hand. She has kissed and hugged her way through life,” she says.”[My family had] an open-door policy. We were never afraid to bring the wrong person home. They were always open to our failures.”
