Toby Keith has won $2.8 million in damages in the 2001 accident that killed the country music star’s father.
A jury returned the verdict last week against Elias Rodriguez and Pedro Rodriguez, operators of Rodriguez Transportes of Tulsa, and the Republic Western Insurance Co., the owners of the charter bus found to be “in urgent need” of brake repairs before Keith’s father, H.K. Covel, was killed in a collision, the Associated Press reports.
“The jury found no fault on the part of Mr. Covel in the wreck that claimed his life,” attorney Greg Dixon said.
Covel is survived by his wife Carolyn Covel, daughter Tonni Covel and sons Toby Keith Covel and Tracey Covel. The family initially suspected Covel suffered a medical condition that caused the truck to veer out of control, but later learned his truck had been bumped by another vehicle.

MR Toby Keith Covel,I’m so happy for you and your family, for the out come i know the money won’t bring him back but it will help with the expenses and the up keep for flowers and things you and your family wants to do with it. I myself was in an accident in 1997.my son was in there too we were going to my uncle funeral, and this lady hit me almost dead of center, my pelvic exploded, i have 2 steel plates in holding it together and right broken ankle,w/2 screws holding it together and in 99′ had a total hip replacementhad to get dentures, had surgery on my left wrist i have a cut on my left knee, from one side to the other,i got a big hole in my left leg it was size of 2 golf balls it looks like a hook,i have to go in for surgery again on my arm and then later needing a another hip replacement, my son thank to the grace of god my son was ok he just had a slight concession, and like cuts all over his face. i lost him 7 yrs ago his best friend shot him but God needed him more than you and i did may God bless you and your family Toby, singing and writing songs ease’s my heart somebut i can’t work anymore but God know’s our hearts keep on singing Mr Covel and family you all our in my prayers. your’s truley. a lonely Mother missing her family to take care and someday we will see them.

CONGRAULATION THERE IS TO MANY VECHILES ARE NOT GETTING INSPECTION, AND THEY NEED TO CRACK DOWN ON THEM SO WHOM EVER OWES THESE VECHILES NEEDS TO HAVE THERE BUTTS SUED AND MY HEARTS GOES OUT TO THE FAMILIES WHO LOSES THERE FAMILY MEMBER FOR PEOPLE NOT FIXING UP THERE VECHILES I KNOW THE MONEY WON’T BRING THEM BACK BUT IT WILL HELP KEEP UP THERE GRAVE SIDE AND PUT FLOWERS AND MAYBE FOR HIS WIFE, OR THERE CHILDREN THEY ARE BLESSED JUST LIKE ME STILL HAVING TROUBLE AFTER THE LADY HIT ME HEAD ON BUT VERY LITTLE DID I GET SO CONGRAULATION AGAIN TO TOBY AND HIS FAMILY.
