Katherine Jackson, Michael’s Mother, may be filing a wrongful death lawsuit due to the untimely death of her son, Sawf News reports.
Authorities investigating Jackson’s June 25 death have been focusing on Murray, who they believe administered a powerful anesthetic to the pop singer the day he died. Levitch wouldn’t say whether concert promoter AEG might also be a defendant.
“The possibility of a wrongful death action has been floated,” Levitch said. “In that regard, no decision has been finalized … Dr. Murray’s name has been floated because he is under investigation.”
Meanwhile, a judge has approved a merchandising deal that will benefit the King of Pop’s estate, but with Katherine not yet in agreement over a deal with AEG the executors have hammered out. In an estate hearing in the Los Angeles Superior Court, attorney for the executors Howard Weitzman said, “We have a dilemma. One beneficiary doesn’t object and the other beneficiary does. We have a five to six million dollar deal for the estate that may never be recovered because of timing issues. We need court wisdom to overcome this hurdle.”
Levitch responded, “We have a real problem with the AEG deal.”
Wrongful Death Lawsuits
Wrongful death cases are usually brought on behalf of the deceased by his or her close family members. Common types of wrongful death cases include:
- Medical mistakes
- Car or airplane accidents
- Criminal attacks
- Work-related exposure to dangerous conditions or substances
- Death during a supervised activity
When your wrongful death suit goes to court, judges and juries will decide your amount of damages based on pecuniary injury. Meaning how much money the Wrongful Death cost the family. Damage awards will also include interest from the date the family member died.
In cases where cruelty may have been involved, the courts might also consider punishing the person responsible for the wrongful death. Usually, the laws regarding these punitive damages vary from state to state. Your wrongful death lawyer will be able to tell you whether punitive damages will be considered.

She can’t file a suit against a guy who killed himself by abusing prescription drugs. I’m sorry M.J. is dead but when you start the blame game, he should be number 1 and then make the list from there.
