Dr. Phil is coming to the aid of troubled star Britney Spears.
The singer was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles early Saturday morning where she was being held for observation following her shocking meltdown on January 3.
Dr. Phil visited Britney for an hour in her hospital room shortly before she left with her father, Jamie Spears, and returned to her Beverly Hills home, which she had been driven away from Thursday strapped to a gurney in the back of an ambulance.
“My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in direct need of both medical and psychological intervention,” he said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight and The Insider.
“She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room,” the doctor added. “We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her.”
According to the website TMZ, Dr. Phil, who is friends with Britney’s mother Lynne, is taping a Britney special for his popular show which will air on Wednesday.
In Touch has learned that hospital staff decided to release Britney, who had been admitted for 72 hours observation, after determining she was not a danger.

How would you feel if you were young with two children, walking in fame with vultures surrounding you, divorcing, and being torn to pieces in the midst of it all. Support her and leave her to heal. Anyone that mentions her name to destroy her can’t have an honest heart. That poor mother, how can she live and staighten up when all you want is the negative stuff. Back off and let her catch a breath. Her children need her. Where’s the spot light on K-Fed, oh my bad you would get any money. Vultures!!!! Be strong Brit, I will keep you in my prayers.
Much Love,
