After dropping off pal Nicole Richie at an L.A. tanning salon on Sunday afternoon, former O.C. star Mischa Barton got into a fender bender in Richie’s Mercedes SUV.

Clearly annoyed and a little shaken, Barton, 21, then pulled into a gas station, exchanged insurance info with the couple she bumped into and refilled Richie’s tank, according to a source.

But this is not any other celebrity-crashes-car story.

Coincidentially, Mischa and Nicole’s very, um, happy BFF, Carlos Lopez, just happened to be at the same gas station when Barton arrived, ready to lend a hero’s hand. That Lopez sure does have a knack for paparazzi performance!
