tom-cruise-21 Tom Cruise Talks About Latest Movie

Tom Cruise has broken his silence and is defending his controversial role as the German colonel famous for a failed attempt to kill Adolf Hitler.

“All I can say is, ‘Save your comments until you see the movie,’ ” Cruise, 49, tells the German weekly, Bunte, regarding the German politicians and media who have attacked his religious beliefs and his decision to play one of Germany’s greatest heroes in his new movie Valkyrie.

“I want to think positive and concentrate on the film,” the actor says in the magazine. “I carry a great responsibility to the Germans, for whom a man like [Colonel Claus Graf Schenk von] Stauffenberg means so much.”

“And I feel this responsibility to the man himself. The more I learn about him, the greater my respect and my admiration of him,” he adds about his character in the wartime thriller surrounding a failed plot by high-ranking military officers to blow up Hitler. Stauffenberg was the man who placed the bomb.

Cruise also reveals that when director Bryan Singer approached him about the role, he tossed a script on his desk with a picture of Stauffenberg on the cover. Says Cruise, “Intuitively I saw a similarity in the profile of this man with myself. Naturally that’s something that makes an actor curious.”

And he insists that filming had to take place in Germany. “We wanted the inner truth, so to speak, and location helps with that.”

Cruise says that he enjoys living in Berlin with wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri. A personal highlight is Berlin’s Tiergarten park. “To my great delight I’ve discovered that my family and I can walk in the park at night and it’s not dangerous. Fantastic.”

David Beckham Out For 6 Weeks

August 31st, 2007 by gina1 in Celebrity, David Beckham

david_beckham180 David Beckham Out For 6 Weeks

Time to mend it like Beckham.

David Beckham, the British soccer import who seems to have spent more time on the trainer’s table than the field, will now be out for about six weeks with a sprained ligament in his knee, the Los Angeles Galaxy announced Thursday.

The midfielder, who previously nursed an injured ankle that cost him playing time, got the bad news after he underwent an MRI exam and was evaluated by the Galaxy’s team physician. Beckham now begins rehab on the knee.

During the 30th minute of play in the Galaxy vs. CF Pachuca Superliga final at the Home Depot Center on Wednesday evening, Beckham suffered a fierce tackle on the left corner of the field. He went down hard and stayed down.

All in the stadium were on their feet as Beckham, 32, signaled to the bench for assistance. He limped to the sideline as a substitute stepped onto the field to fill in.

With the score tied 1-1, Beckham hobbled back onto the grass in the second half of overtime play. “I had to get back out there to cheer on the lads as much as I could,” he said after the game.

The Galaxy later lost in a penalty-kick shoot-out.

Owen Wilson Drops Out of Ben Stiller Movie

August 29th, 2007 by admin in Celebrity, Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson Drops Out of New Ben Stiller Movie | Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson has placed his acting career on hold as he recovers from his suicide attempt.

Wilson, 38, has dropped out of Tropic Thunder, a movie comedy for DreamWorks he was set to begin shooting in two to three weeks with longtime pal Ben Stiller, Variety reports.

Wilson’s role was due to take a week, according to the trade paper. Stiller – who is producing, directing and starring in the film – started shooting in Hawaii six weeks ago.

The decision for Wilson to sit out the project was apparently mutual between him and Stiller, and it is unclear whether Wilson will be replaced or if his role will be dropped from the script, says Variety.

Wilson and Stiller, 41, have starred together in eight movies: The Cable Guy (1996), Permanent Midnight (1998), Meet the Parents (2000), Zoolander (2001), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Starsky & Hutch (2004), Meet the Fockers (2004) and Night at the Museum (2006).

Wilson is currently in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being taken there Sunday. In his only statement since then, the leading man has asked to be given the privacy to “heal.”

WOW its hard to believe someone like Owen Wilson would even consider commiting suicide, I mean talk about having it all and living the dream.  Yet he seems like he might have indulged a little to much and lived to much of that crazy hollywood party lifestyle.  Here’s hoping he gets better and comes back and does another Wedding Crashers, the guy is a great talent.

Ashton Kutcher Offers Fashion Tips

August 29th, 2007 by gina1 in Ashton Kutcher, Celebrity

ashton_kutcher Ashton Kutcher Offers Fashion Tips

Ashton Kutcher has a rule when it comes to being photographed with wife Demi Moore – or any woman.

“Your man should not upstage you,” Kutcher advises. “He is there to highlight you.”

The actor, 29, offers that gem, among others, in an essay on fashion tips that appears in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, on newsstands now.

In the essay, Kutcher endeavors to help couples struggling with how to dress and offers the male point of view when it comes to sprucing up.

“Guys don’t like to be told they look nice, pretty, or cute or that they clean up well,” writes Kutcher, who’s been married to Moore, 44, since 2005.

“We want to feel dirty, rugged, and, most important, that you feel safe when you are in our company,” he continues. “So when your guy finally tries on something that you like, tell him that he looks like James Bond or Tony Montana.”

Adds Kutcher, “Feel free to be even more vague than that: ‘Wow, that suit makes you look like that hot football player!’ Trust me, say any of this and you won’t be able to get him to take the damn suit off.”

The bottom line, he says, is that the woman must be the star of the couple.

“When it comes to getting dressed, men are a little bit more important than handbags but less important than shoes,” he writes. “At any rate, we are merely accessories.”

Kutcher offers one final fashion don’t: dressing alike.

“Make sure the look isn’t too matchy-matchy,” he cautions. “Your best bet is to match the man gear to that great new Balenciaga bag that you’re planning to carry. If your bag works with your outfit, so will he.”

Man has this guy gone soft or what. He should stop listening to his mom, err wife.

Leona Helmsley’s Dog Inherits $12 Million

August 29th, 2007 by gina1 in Celebrity

Trouble took a $12 million bite out of Leona Helmsley’s will.

While the Queen of Mean left a kennel full of cash for the plenty-pampered female pooch, she also left potentially billions of dollars to charity, court papers show.

The will leaves a total of $50 million in bequests to Trouble the dog and three family members, and instructs that the remainder of her personal fortune - which Westchester Surrogate’s Court documents estimate to be valued at between $4 billion and $8 billion - to the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Helmsley didn’t completely turn over a new leaf in her later years, however - two of the family members to whom she left bequests were left less than Trouble, and she pointedly excluded two of her grandkids, Craig and Meegan Panzirer, “for reasons which are known to them,” the filing says.

None of her 12 great-grandchildren is mentioned at all.

The only nonfamily member to whom Helmsley left cash was her chauffeur, Nicholas Celea of Woodside, Queens. She left him $100,000 if he “survives me and at the time of my death is employed by me or any Helmsley entity.”

The 87-year-old Helmsley - whose love of the finer things in life was legendary - also left $3 million to en sure a first-class afterlife with her late husband, Harry.

“I acknowledge in this will, as I often did during my life, my love, affection and admiration for my late husband, Harry B. Helmsley. I direct that I be interred wearing my gold wedding band (which is never to be removed from my finger) and my remains be interred next to my beloved husband . . . and next to my beloved son, Jay Panzirer, at the Helmsley Mausoleum,” the document says. That tomb is in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Westchester.

“I also direct that anything bearing the Helmsley name must be maintained in ‘mint’ condition and in the manner that it has been accustomed to, maintaining the outstanding Helmsley reputation.”

That includes the mausoleum, which she directs the trustees to have “acid-washed or steam-cleaned at least once a year.”

“I direct my trustees to maintain the final resting places in excellent condition, and to arrange for inspection of the final resting places as often as may be necessary (but not less often than quarterly) to ensure their proper care and maintenance.”

She also orders “that when my dog, Trouble, dies, her remains shall be buried next to my remains in the Helmsley Mausoleum.”

In the meantime, the filthy-rich 8-year-old Maltese, who was featured in ads for Helmsley’s hotels, will stay with Helmsley’s brother, Alvin Rosenthal.

The will doesn’t specify how Trouble’s $12 million should be spent - it just orders the cash be put into a trust that had been established for petite pup’s benefit. It’s also unclear what will happen to the funds when the dog dies.

I wonder what those grandkids did to not get left anything.

Gordon Ramsay Calls Lawsuit a Joke

August 29th, 2007 by gina1 in Celebrity

gordon Gordon Ramsay Calls Lawsuit a Joke

Breaking a three-month silence, celeb chef Gordon Ramsay has slammed the $1 million lawsuit filed by a restaurant owner who claimed that Ramsay’s yet-to-premiere Kitchen Nightmares cooked up drama by making the eatery seem worse than it was. “The idea of bringing moldy food in and planting actors [as disgusted customers] is a f–king joke,” Ramsay tells TV Week. “[The plaintiff] is a man who got very scared and very embarrassed about his lack of professionalism…. We were issued a writ because, god bless America, if the toilet paper is not thick enough and you come out with a rash on your ass [you get sued].”

Earlier this month, a judge turned the suit over to arbitration.
