What’s a bit of sofa-jumping between friends, eh? After being dumped for behaving a bit odd, Tom Cruise has now been welcomed back into the Paramount film fold. Viacom boss Sumner Redstone, who heads up the Paramount film studios, severed ties with the Mission Impossible star six months ago. Tom’s sacking came about after his rather bizarre television declaration of love for Katie Holmes, which involved some pretty energetic leaping about on Oprah Winfrey’s sofa. Concerns about Tom’s outspoken beliefs about childbirth and post-natal depression also led to the falling out with Paramount. However, Sumner says he is ready to forgive and forget. “We had to do the best thing for Viacom. The company was disturbed by Tom’s then behaviour which has now changed,” Sumner said of the spat. “I would probably work with Tom in the future but not immediately.”

The 28-year-old actress fell for husband Tom during their first handshake and then was further wooed by a motorcycle ride. Katie said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “Our first date was in Los Angeles - it was also my first motorcycle ride to the beach.” “It was amazing and fast. I was in love from the moment I shook his hand for the first time.” The former “Dawson’s Creek” star - who married the “Top Gun” actor last November in a romantic ceremony in Italy - has also gushed about what it’s like being the new Mrs. Cruise. Katie - who has a daughter, Suri, with Tom - added: “I feel very lucky. I have a husband and baby that I adore. I have a career I really love.”
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ new British love nest is currently inhabitable - because it stinks of sewage.
It appears the newlyweds will not be able to make use of the $4.9 million mansion for a while, as it has been overtaken by unbearable smell, caused by ongoing sewage works.
The appalling stench has been caused by Tom and Katie’s neighbors at Dormans Park village emptying their garden drains.
Neighbor Emma Tanning told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “The pong is absolutely putrid when the cesspits are being empties. If Tom moves in before the work is completed it won’t be smelling very pretty. I don’t think Katie will be happy.”
The works are expected to carry into the New Year.
Surrey District councilor Robert Bisset admitted: “Dormans Park is a real mess. They are in the process of putting in sewers but it’s a big job.”
Tom and Katie - who are currently honeymooning on a yacht in the Maldives - bought the six-bedroom property so they could visit the British Scientology headquarters Saint Hill Castle, which is just 3 kilometers away.
The couple already own a Beverly Hills mansion and an eight-bedroom retreat in Colorado.

The ”Top Gun” actor is said to have put on so much weight in the run-up to his nuptials he needed help fitting into his Armani suit. According to US gossip columnist Janet Charlton, a source at Armani said: “Tom packed on around twenty pounds in the past few months before the big event. He says he’s a ‘nervous eater’.” “Tom wanted to look svelte so he didn’t protest when Giorgio suggested girdling his midsection so the jacket would fall properly.
