BERLIN - Eleven extras were injured during the filming of a new movie starring Tom Cruise, police said Monday.

The 11 men, along with a companion who escaped injury, fell off the back of a truck on Sunday night. Police said in a statement that a bolt on a side panel of the truck apparently came loose as the vehicle turned.

Germany’s Bild daily reported that Cruise himself was not involved in the weekend filming.

The extras were taken to a hospital, where all but one of them required only outpatient treatment. Filming work was stopped.

The movie, provisionally titled “Valkyrie,” stars Cruise as Germany’s most famous anti-Hitler plotter, Col. Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg.

His casting has attracted controversy in Germany because Cruise is one of the best known adherents of Scientology, which the German government considers a commercial enterprise that takes advantage of vulnerable people.

Some critics maintain that one of its members should not be playing what some consider one of the Nazi era’s few heroes.

The weekend accident happened during filming of scenes around the Finance Ministry, which was once the Nazis’ aviation ministry.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’s unexpected midnight visit to flashbulb capital Saint-Tropez kicked off what one veteran paparazzo dubbed “a genuine photo-riot.”

The couple drew crowds Friday night in a scene that VIP Room clubowner Jean Roch calls “crazy, crazy, crazy. It was an amazing surprise. There were maybe 500 to 600 people gathered outside when they tried leaving. It was like word of mouth had spread all along the Cote d’Azur.”

Inside the club, Cruise and Holmes “danced the entire night together,” says Roch. “When they weren’t dancing they were holding hands.”

Holmes, wearing a light-weight black dress embroidered with ruby-colored stones, and a jeans-clad Cruise appeared relaxed and friendly with the surprised photographers outside. Holmes even told one of them, “It’s great [to be in Saint-Tropez].”

The couple, who were cruising the Mediterranean with billionaire friends James and Erica Packer onboard the Australian honeymooners’ yacht the Arctic P., sailed into the waters during the late afternoon, according to observers. At midnight, the quartet came ashore at a small beach near the Papagayo restaurant, got into cars and headed to the VIP Room.

Just a day earlier, the couple made a stir in Corsica, where they headed out for pizza with a group of friends.

Still, it was the couple’s exit that left an impression on clubowner Roch, who also hosted Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s bachelor party and Diddy’s annual fete. “Last night was one of the biggest crowds we’ve ever seen. But we hope to do even better tonight. George Clooney’s coming.”

Tom Cruise has reportedly angered locals in Colorado by insisting nobody else is allowed in the cinema when he goes to watch a movie.

The Top Gun star, who owns a house in the town of Telluride, has decided he wants to be alone when he goes to The Nugget Theatre.

Tom, who is married to actress Katie Holmes, is so determined to have the venue to himself he is considering renting it at a cost of $1,000 a day.

However, locals are not happy as they will not be able to watch the latest movies when Tom is there.

One said: “It’s the only cinema in town. It’s particularly crazy as he can get hold of any film he likes and watch it alone at home.”

Last month, it was revealed Tom had been banned from filming at a German military base because he is a Scientologist.

The ‘Mission: Impossible’ star is currently making ‘Valkyrie’, based on German officer Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg’s plot to kill Adolf Hitler towards the end of World War II.

Why doesn’t Tom Cruise have his own movie theater in his house or next to it is the question.

The Sun is reporting that Katie Holmes is pregnant with her second child with Tom Cruise. She was spotted with Tom in Madrid, trying to hide her bump under a loose dress as they watched David Beckham’s last game at Real Madrid. And even though she’s in the early stages of pregnancy, she apparently downed some alcohol at the post-match party.

Scientologist Jenna Elfman is publicly defending the marriage of her fellow Scientologist friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise’s friend and fellow Scientologist Jenna Elfman is shooting down reports that the actor’s five-month marriage to Katie Holmes is unstable. “Honestly, they’re happy,” Elfman, 35, told PEOPLE at Thursday’s Healthy Child Healthy World benefit in Santa Monica.

Katie is going to Shreveport , La with her 10-month-old daughter to film her next movie, Mad Money.  Sources say that she planned this to “break free from her controlling husband Tom Cruise.”  In order to control his wife he is planning to go with her to Shreveport and will be on the set every day.

The reason why Tom wants to attend the set is to interfere with the nude scene that Katie has with a young co-star Adam Rothenberg in her new move.  He already talked with producers of the movie and told them why the movie would be better without the nude scene.  However, industry sources say that the nude scene could really boost Katie’s career as an actor.  Although, due to the low budget of the move Tom will have the last word since he has a lot of money and connections. 

Such unfortunate decision on his part could jeopardize their relationship, because Katie is trying to continue her slowed down acting carrier and she is very persistent about it, sources say.
