Actress Reese Witherspoon has launched a global United Nations campaign to end violence against women.

The ‘Walk The Line’ star, who is cosmetics giant Avon’s Global Ambassador to promote women’s empowerment, kicked off the beauty company’s new partnership with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) on Tuesday.

Avon is selling Women’s Empowerment Bracelets online for $3 (€1.95) each to benefit UNIFEM.

Witherspoon said: “Every purchase of the bracelet will help empower women - 100% of the profits will go directly to the Avon Empowerment Fund to support UNIFEM in their work to end violence against women.

“I hope to see this bracelet on the wrists of women all around the world as a sign of solidarity and hope that one day every woman will be empowered and live a life free from violence.”

‘Walk the Line’ star Reese Witherspoon is officially the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.

The 31-year-old Oscar winner has beaten the likes of Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and Nicole Kidman to claim the number one spot in the Hollywood Reporter’s annual female rich list - receiving a staggering $15m-$20m (€10m-€14m) per picture.

‘Tomb Raider’ star Jolie, 32, comes in second, though her salary for the current Beowulf picture was said to be a “mere” $8m (€5.4m).

Diaz, 35, is placed third, with a $15m (€10m)-per-movie salary demand, though her take-home earnings from the most recent ‘Shrek’ instalment are pegged at a very healthy $30m (€20.5m).

Last year’s number two, Nicole Kidman, 40, fell to fourth place, with an asking price of $10m (€6.8m) to $15m (€14m) a film.

Also in the $10m (€6.8m) to $15m (€10m) club are Renee Zellweger, Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts, despite an absence from the screen since 2004.

Hollywood couple Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have finalised their divorce, according to court documents.

Witherspoon cited irreconcilable differences when she filed for divorce on November 8 last year.

The couple were married for seven years and have two children, eight-year-old daughter Ava and three-year-old son Deacon.

Witherspoon, 31, and Phillippe, 33, co-starred in the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions and married that year. Their separation was announced on October 30 last year.

Witherspoon won the best-actress Academy Award last year for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk The Line.

She can next be seen in Rendition, due out later this month.

Phillippe co-starred in Crash, which won the best-picture Oscar last year. Other recent credits include the Second World War drama Flags Of Our Fathers and Breach, which was released earlier this year.

Court documents confirming the divorce were first posted by the celebrity Web site CelebTV.com.

Ryan Phillippe wants joint custody of his children with “Walk the Line” Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon.

Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce on Nov. 8, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and she asked for physical custody of the acting couple’s two children — 7-year-old Ava and 3-year-old Deacon.

In the Superior Court divorce petition, Witherspoon, 31, asked for visitation for Phillippe, 32, and “exclusive use of the family residence.”

In a response filed Tuesday by his attorneys, Phillippe also cited irreconcilable differences but asked for joint legal custody and physical custody of the children as well as visitation granted “to both parties, equally allocated.”  Phillippe’s petition was first reported by CelebTV.com.

Divorce is tough, especially on the kids, hopefully Reese plays nice, she seems like such a sweetheart.

According to In Touch magazine, “George Clooney and Reese Witherspoon were spotted dining at Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks on January 14.
