The end of their erratic courtship (they began dating in September ‘06) comes amid erroneous reports that the pair were engaged, fueled by photos of Hudson wearing a Tiffany & Co. ring (it was a prop!) both on-and-off set of her film Bride Wars, which she’s filming in Boston.

“It was a pretty bad breakup,” says a Wilson pal. “Owen said it was a tough one. He definitely doesn’t want to dwell on it. He wants to put it behind him.”

Since the split, Hudson, 29, and Wilson, 39, have each been spotted letting loose. On May 9, Hudson and Bride Wars costar Steve Howey, 30, visited Boston’s Liberty Hotel bar, Alibi. And on May 11, Wilson dropped by N.Y.C.’s Upstairs with two women.

“He was pretty chummy with the ladies … he was certainly doing some sweet talking,” according to an onlooker. “He looked happy to be there hanging with them.” The late-night outing was followed by a visit to Butter the next night, where he chatted up a sexy blonde. Says a Hudson source: “She feels dumb thinking it was so serious.”

Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson may have split last summer, but the pair reunited – and appeared very cozy – at the Oscars over the weekend.

As PEOPLE reports in its new issue (on newsstands Friday), the pair flirted at Madonna’s exclusive post-Oscar party Sunday night. Spotted by an onlooker near the souvenir booth, “There was lots of arm touching, giggling,” says the eyewitness. “They were having lots of fun.”

Adds another observer: “They were all over each other.”

The day before the Oscars, Wilson, 39, and Hudson, 28, met up twice – spending time at each other’s homes.

Kate Hudson has spoken about her ex-lover Owen Wilson for the first time.

The actress, who began dating Owen last year after they met on the set of ‘You, Me and Dupree’ but split in June, will always love Owen and hopes he is happier following his failed suicide attempt.

She said: “Owen is such a lovely person, and I love him dearly. And I wish him beautiful things - health and everything that he desires in life.”

Kate, 28, also revealed her marriage to rocker Chris Robinson began to falter after their three-year-old son Ryder was born.

The actress, who split from Chris in 2006 after six years, admitted her divorce was the most “painful” thing she has ever gone through.

She told Vogue magazine: “We had Ryder, and we both sort of looked at each other and went, ‘Something’s off.’

Kate Hudson is reportedly trying to rekindle her romance with ex-boyfriend Owen Wilson after splitting from Dax Shepard.

The ‘Almost Famous’ actress is said to be desperate to woo back Owen - who was hospitalised in August after a failed suicide bid - after realising she still loves him.

A source said: “It was working out between her and Dax but it’s a clean break.

“After Owen’s suicide attempt, she realised how much she loved him, and broke up with Dax.”

Kate - who has a three-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson - began dating Owen last year after meeting on the set of ‘You, Me and Dupree’.

Dropping Owen Wilson for Dax Shepard is like trading in a Luxury Jet for a big wheel, she should have her head examined and Owen should find someone else.

Owen Wilson made a public appearance Thursday night – briefly showing up at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie, The Darjeeling Limited.

Wilson, 38, sidestepped the red carpet and entered the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theatre through a private entrance, surprising the audience by joining costars Jason Schwartzman, Natalie Portman and Anjelica Huston onstage.

Shown a very warm welcome back into the spotlight, Wilson was introduced by director Wes Anderson as “my best friend,” and the audience erupted into applause. Added Anderson: “I’ve never made a movie without him. and I hope I never have to.”

Onstage, Wilson looked healthy and confident in a dark suit and white button-down shirt.

It is Wilson’s first major appearance since being hospitalized in August after what police called a suicide attempt.

As the cast left the stage for the film’s presentation, Wilson was embraced by producer/writer Roman Coppola and then Huston, who shared her support by telling PEOPLE what a “cool guy” Wilson is.

“I have to say, I have a crush on Owen.” Huston, 56, said before Wilson (who also costarred with her in Anderson’s 2001 The Royal Tenenbaums) joined her for a few moments in the front row. He then exited the theater.

“Owen is doing very well and he is with us tonight, and I love him,” Wilson’s Darjeeling costar, Schwartzman, told PEOPLE on the red carpet.

Matthew McConaughey is taking Owen Wilson’s role in the comedy film Tropic Thunder.

Wilson dropped out of the DreamWorks movie after an apparent suicide attempt last month.

Tropic Thunder, which is filming in Hawaii, stars Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr, Nick Nolte, Bill Hader and Steve Coogan. Stiller is also directing.

Tropic Thunder is about a group of actors who gather on a remote island to shoot a big-budget war movie and are forced to become the soldiers they are playing.

Wilson, 38, was taken by ambulance to a hospital after police responded to a call from his Santa Monica home. The next day, Wilson issued a statement asking for privacy so he could “receive care and heal”.

Owen Wilson has placed his acting career on hold as he recovers from his suicide attempt. 

Wilson, 38, has dropped out of Tropic Thunder, a movie comedy for DreamWorks he was set to begin shooting in two to three weeks with longtime pal Ben Stiller, Variety reports.

Wilson’s role was due to take a week, according to the trade paper. Stiller – who is producing, directing and starring in the film – started shooting in Hawaii six weeks ago.

The decision for Wilson to sit out the project was apparently mutual between him and Stiller, and it is unclear whether Wilson will be replaced or if his role will be dropped from the script, says Variety.

Wilson and Stiller, 41, have starred together in eight movies: The Cable Guy (1996), Permanent Midnight (1998), Meet the Parents (2000), Zoolander (2001), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Starsky & Hutch (2004), Meet the Fockers (2004) and Night at the Museum (2006).

Wilson is currently in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being taken there Sunday. In his only statement since then, the leading man has asked to be given the privacy to “heal.”

WOW its hard to believe someone like Owen Wilson would even consider commiting suicide, I mean talk about having it all and living the dream.  Yet he seems like he might have indulged a little to much and lived to much of that crazy hollywood party lifestyle.  Here’s hoping he gets better and comes back and does another Wedding Crashers, the guy is a great talent. 

Owen Wilson’s parents and brothers were seen at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Sunday night amid reports Wilson was hospitalized.

Santa Monica police issued a statement saying officers responded to a “medical assistance call” at a house on Wilson’s street shortly after noon Sunday. A source confirmed the house was Wilson’s.

“The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated,” the police statement said.

According to media reports, it was Wilson who was transported.

Later in the evening, Wilson’s brothers Andrew and Luke, as well as his parents, were seen at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.

Wilson’s rep didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Wilson, who stars in the upcoming Wes Anderson movie The Darjeeling Limited, is currently filming the comedy Tropic Thunder, directed by Wilson’s friend Ben Stiller.

Need to get to a strip club but don’t have a car handy? No problem. Owen Wilson pedaled his mountain bike to Scores West Side where he parked his bike in the check room and then sat down for some lap dances. A source tells Page Six:

“After a few hours, he said he was meeting friends at another club to bring back to Scores and could he leave the bike. They said, ‘No problem,’ ” our spy reports. “It was a fun night for him - Scores, regular clubs, then Scores again. Who needs Kate Hudson?”
