Nicole Richie, 26 and her boyfriend Joel Madden, 28 welcomed a baby girl on Friday.
Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz.
The couple’s rep said: “The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents.”
Currently the new parents have yet to set a wedding date but have decided to put their baby first.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have taken a philanthropic turn as they wait for the arrival of their first baby. The couple launched the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation by hosting a surprise baby shower on Monday for 100 expectant and new moms at the Los Angeles Free Clinic in Hollywood. The generous pair handed out more than $200,000 worth of gifts, including Baby Björn products, cribs, mattresses and toys from Fisher-Price. “Everything they got, we got,” said Nicole. “So everything that will be in their nursery, will be in our nursery.” As for what made them take a page from the Brangelina book? “We grew up in Los Angeles,” said Joel, “and we want our child to be a part of the community and to know that there’s a responsibility to help the community.”
Nicole Richie is using her Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower to benefit charity.
The Simple Life star and boyfriend Joel Madden, who are due to have their first child in January, will donate baby gifts to 100 expectant families in need through the newly-formed Richie Madden Foundation through the Los Angeles Free Clinic.
“It’s really sweet,” says shower guest Rashida Jones, of NBC’s The Office. “With all the swag these days, we’re given so much stuff it’s almost wasteful, and it’s kind of nice when we’re giving to each other to give to someone else.”
While many friends at Sunday’s shower in Beverly Hills donated gifts to the charity, they also brought gifts for Nicole and Joel to keep – including one children’s book from every guest to help build the baby’s library.
It is nice to see celebrities do something good with their gifts.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden recently made an offer on a home in a gated Southern California community only to be denied by their potential neighbors, a source tells Us Weekly.
When the mom-to-be heard that she and fiance Madden were denied by residents who were conerned about photographers hovering near their homes, “Nicole was livid because she loved the house,” the source says. “She thinks it’s a BS reason, but she couldn’t fight it.”
Still, being dismissed hasn’t put a damper on the couple’s growing excitement over their coming event. Another source tells Us that Richie, 26, is planning a baby shower for the end of November. And Madden, 28, expects fatherhood to have a positive impact on many parts of his life, including his songwriting. “I’m sure it will inspire me,” he told Us on October 27. “Yeah, I’m sure it will.”

Nicole Richie served 82 minutes of a four-day sentence for DUI on Thursday due to jail overcrowding, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Accompanied by her lawyer and boyfriend Joel Madden, the five-months pregnant Richie entered the jail in Lynwood, Calif., at 3:15 p.m. for booking, listed at 5′1″ and 105 lbs. She was processed into the system and released at 4:37 p.m., a sheriff’s statement said.
“Miss Richie was cooperative during the process,” the statement said.
The statement said she was released “based on her sentence and federal court guidelines.” Under the current sheriff’s policy, non-violent female offenders sentenced to 30 days or less are booked and released within 12 hours.
Richie was “treated in the same manner as other inmates with a similar sentence,” the statement said.
Richie, 25, who’s pregnant by Madden, pleaded guilty to DUI on July 27. As part of her sentence, she also agreed to serve a three-year probation term, must enroll in an alcohol education program and was fined $2,048.
She was arrested for DUI on Dec. 11 after being spotted driving her black Mercedes SUV the wrong way on an L.A. freeway. She was previously convicted of DUI in June 2003.
Richie told Diane Sawyer in an interview earlier this month that going to jail was “my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult.”

Are congratulations again in order for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden?
After a late Friday night performance with his band Good Charlotte at the Hot 99.5 Lil’ Black Dress Party hosted by Perez Hilton at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Va., Madden was walking offstage when Hot 99.5 morning show deejay Kane announced to the crowd, “He got engaged yesterday. Congratulations, Joel!”
To that, Madden quickly glanced back over his shoulder but was otherwise unresponsive as he made a hurried exit from the stage behind brother Benji.
“We heard this morning,” Kane told PEOPLE following Good Charlotte’s 40-minute set. Crediting he got the word from “good sources,” Kane said he hadn’t seen Richie since hearing the news, but added he had offered his congratulations to Madden earlier in the night. “He said, ‘Thank you so much,’” recalled Kane.
“They’re very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal,” he added.
While there were no sightings of Richie at the party, she and Madden, who are expecting their first child together, were spotted touring Washington, D.C., earlier in the day.
The pair, along with entourage in tow, popped into Nathans of Georgetown restaurant for a late lunch before making their way to the upscale Georgetown baby boutique Dawn Price Baby.

“I got so much so fast that nothing really excited me anymore,” the Simple Life star, 25, said about the lavish trappings of being the adopted daughter of musician Lionel Richie.
“I kind of took matters into my own hands and was creating drama in a very dangerous way,” said Richie. “I think I was just bored, and I had seen everything – especially when you’re young, you just want more.”
Hard drugs accompanied the hard partying. “At 18 I had just been doing a lot of cocaine,” she said. She sought treatment for that. But by the time Richie reached her early 20s, she said, she needed to deal with an addiction to heroin.
“I, again, made the decision for myself, this is something I have to do. I have to get off drugs,” she said. “This isn’t the life … this was heroin.”
How long has it been since Richie touched heroin? asked Sawyer. “It’s been four years, Richie replied.
And cocaine? “I was 18,” said Richie. “That has been almost nine years.”
Since then, she says, “I’m happy for the things I have accomplished. I’m happy I’m not in that state anymore.”
Given these past problems, Sawyer quoted Lionel Richie as having said, “I think I wasn’t a good dad.” The musician, 58, had long believed his one job was to bring in the money, so he was always touring in concert rather than being home with Nicole.
“I never blamed him. I think he blamed himself,” said Nicole. “It was very humble of my dad to come forward and say, ‘I made a mistake.’ I love him for that.”
SO She was a heavy cocaine user, then a heroin addict and people are wondering why she looks like a modern day skeleton. Now shes going to jail for a DUI and is pregnant, man this chick has real issues.
Nicole Richie appeared in court today to face charges for her wrong-way DUI bust in December — her second DUI conviction in 4 years. A court commissioner sentenced Richie, represented by lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, to serve four days in the City or County Jail (her choice!) — she got credit for a fifth day, for the six hours she served after being busted.
Richie was also fined $2,048, was ordered back to school for 21 days to an alcohol education course and on three years probation.
Richie must report to serve her time by September 28.
The commissioner issued Richie a stern warning, telling her if she she drove drunk again and she actually killed someone she could be charged with murder — not manslaughter. That’s because after her first DUI, Richie agreed that if she drove under the influence and killed someone, she’d be nailed for murder.
The 25-year-old is expected to give birth sometime in January.
A source close to Richie said at today’s sentencing she was “stoic and serious, but not emotional.”
“Simple Life” star Nicole Richie has hypoglycemia, the celebutante’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE.In her ongoing effort to focus on her well-being, Nicole has recently been diagnosed with hypoglycemia,” the rep said. “[She] is taking steps to manage it.”
Hypoglycemia is a medical condition that happens when a persons blood sugar level dips too low to provide an adequate amount of energy for the body’s activities.
Recently Nicole and her friend Paris Hilton have been counselors at a health camp where Richie’s well-being took a focus.
