Lance Armstrong might be an all-time champion cyclist and a hit with the ladies, but he confesses he hasn’t always been a superstar in the Tour De Bedroom.
“If you are riding your bike five, six, seven hours a day, you are not a sex champion,” he tells Men’s Journal in its October issue. “You have fatigue, low testosterone and a lower libido,” he says matter-of-factly, “but you know, I never got any complaints.”
The record-breaking athlete conquered testicular cancer and won seven consecutive Tour de France victories before retiring in 2005 and has dated Sheryl Crow, Tory Burch and, more recently, Kate Hudson since his 2003 divorce from his wife of five years (and mother of their three children), Kristin.
But right now, he’s single and enjoying every minute of it.
“I’m a 36-year-old single guy who is completely open and honest with every woman in my life,” says Armstrong. “As long as you’re honest, and no one’s getting played or let down, then you’re being fair.”
And while he says dating is tough, he relies on friends to introduce him to potential girlfriends. “It’s hard for me to call someone up and say, ‘Hey, can I take you on a date?’” he says. “It’s never like that. I meet people casually, hanging out with friends, so there’s less pressure.”

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong may have been spotted together over the past month in getaways as far apart as Texas and France, but the actress doesn’t want to talk about that.
Opening up about a relationship “only causes more problems and more words taken out of context,” Hudson, 29, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday. “Everything is always misconstrued.”
Not that discussing other males wasn’t all right with Hudson, whose Seacrest appearance was to help promote pal (and celebrity hairstylist) David Babaii’s WildAid hair products.
“My main priority in my life is my son,” said Hudson, referring to her 4-year-old, Ryder.
Yet as far as anything remotely revolving around the cycling champ, Hudson said only, “It’s better to let … people speculate as much as they want to speculate.”

Sheryl Crow has said that despite the pain of her break up from Lance Armstrong, “the love doesn’t stop” between them.
The pair began dating in 2003 and announced their engagement in September last year, which was to last for just five months.
Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey show, the 44-year-old discussed how tough the past year has been for her. As well as splitting from Armstrong, a former Tour de France winner, she has also battled with breast cancer.
But despite the challenges she has faced, Crow, a nine-time Grammy award-winning singer, told Oprah that the year has made her stronger.
“I’ve had so many people say to me, ‘Gosh, you know, everything’s really gone wrong for you this year,’ and it took me going through that to realise that everything really went right for me,” she said.
As well as the lessons learnt from her split from Armstrong, Crow said that fighting breast cancer has provided her with some clarity on life.
Now cancer-free for six months, she said: “I want to remember every moment of what was going on at that time because we talk about defining moments, but I think nothing can define you. They’re all refining moments. You’re constantly refining yourself and refining your life.”
