Recovering alcoholic David Hasselhoff has been hospitalised after suffering a relapse in his battle with alcoholism.

The Baywatch star checked himself into an unnamed clinic.

He is expected to be released today.

Hasselhoff’s representative Judy Katz tells website TMZ.com: “David had a brief relapse and immediately recognised the importance of addressing it with the assistance of his doctors. He is doing fine and will be back home in the morning.”

Hasselhoff won full and physical custody of his two teenage daughters following a bitter court battle with his ex-wife Pamela Bach in June.

It is currently unclear what affect, if any, his hospitalisation will have on this custody arrangement.

He decided to address his alcohol abuse issues earlier this year after his teenage daughter caught him on camera slurring his words while eating pizza during a drunken episode in a Las Vegas hotel.

David Hasselhoff was awarded primary custody of his two daughters on Friday, his attorney tells PEOPLE.

Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas ruled that Hasselhoff’s ex-wife, Pamela Bach, could visit the teen-aged girls on alternate weekends and on Wednesday nights for dinner, says lawyer Melvin S. Goldsman.

“If, down the road, the kids are comfortable seeing her more, Mr. Hasselhoff has said he will let his children see their mother as often as they want to,” Goldsman says.

The former Baywatch star and now a judge on America’s Got Talent left the courtroom smiling, telling reporters it was “a beautiful day to go to the beach.”

“The judge said today, ‘Enough – enough is enough, these children have been through enough,’” Hasselhoff said.

Bach didn’t comment, but was seen crying in the courthouse hallway.

Wow surprising that the Hoff gets full custody, especially after that drunken fool footage. Good for the Hoff! His ex must have been pretty bad to lose custody.  The Hoff man must have had a great divorce lawyer!

Sources tell TMZ that the anger between David Hasselhoff and his ex has boiled over again — and the cops came a callin’.

It happened Monday, before David and Pamela went to court. The facts are very much in dispute. A source connected with Pamela tells TMZ that Hasselhoff went to his ex’s Encino home to bring a pair of shoes to daughter Hayley. The source says David became “abusive” and Pamela called 911. The source says Hasselhoff left, and the police arrived and took a report.

But a source connected with David tells a radically different tale. The source says Haley asked David to come over to transfer her clothes from her mom’s house to her dad’s. David was gathering the garments and refused to engage Pamela in conversation. The source says Pamela became enraged and started shouting, and David got in the car and left. The source says Pamela was yelling at him in the driveway as he drove away.

An LAPD source confirmed to TMZ that police responded to a 911 call and a report was taken.

I would believe Hasselhoff because it sounds like he got the better end of the child custody descion yesterday, why would he just become abusive? Probably wouldn’t, I’ll bet it’s the exwife who’s trying to get him in trouble.

Flashing some of that legendary chest hair, David Hasselhoff emerged from a Los Angeles County Superior Court, visibly excited about what happened in front of the judge a short while ago, but unable to talk about it per the judge’s order. Instead, he did what any star with a major TV show debuting tomorrow night would do — he plugged like a champion!

The “America’s Got Talent” judge started by expressing his unbridled excitement for the new season of “AGT” (which debuts tomorrow night on NBC), before masterfully slipping in a plug for his new book, “Don’t Hassle the Hoff,” which he’ll be signing tomorrow in NYC.

His publisher actually sent me a copy of this book and I must say its not a bad read! I’ll be blogging more about it in the upcoming week.

Hoff is due back in court June 15 to continue the hearing … and if you can’t get enough of The Hoff, “America’s Got Talent” premieres Tuesday night on NBC.

After the famous hamburger incident, David Hasselhoff has emerged victorious in court! He has won temporary custody of his two kids.

The court hearing today was closed — secret. Hasselhoff went into court stripped of his right to visit with his children in the wake of the burger video. But we’re told the judge was stunned by the evidence presented by the court-appointed expert who performed psychological evaluations on the family.

We’re told the expert said Pamela Bach, Hasselhoff’s ex, was abusive to her kids — especially Hayley, the younger of the two. The expert also noted that Bach refused drug testing, among many other things.

Bach’s lawyer was on the defensive today, unsuccessfully attacking the expert.

TMZ spoke with David Hasselhoff’s lawyer, Mel Goldsman, who refused to discuss TMZ’s original story and Bach’s statements about what happened in court.

WOW This exwife must be really bad for Hasselhoff to get full custody, even if its temporary. Especially after Hasselhoff’s drunken incident a few weeks back.

It looks like recovering alcoholic David Hasselhoff needs to focus a bit more on the “recovering” part of his self-confessed identity and a little less on the “getting smashed off his face” bit.

A video of the intoxicated Baywatch star sitting on the floor of his Las Vegas hotel room has been making the Internet rounds, featuring an unidentified family member pleading with the drunkard to stop boozing it up or risk getting fired from his Producers gig (and, you know, completely self-destructing).
