Britney Spears’ bad driving has put the troubled pop star back in the headlines after a fender bender on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on Tuesday (13May08).

Spears was behind the wheel when her Mercedes-Benz SL65 rear ended a red sports utility vehicle in Beverly Hills.

No injuries were reported and Spears refused to get out of her car, letting her bodyguard talk to the other female motorist and exchange insurance details.

The police were not called to the scene of the accident.

The prang is the latest in a long line of little accidents for Spears - last year (Aug07) she was charged with a hit-and-run when she scraped another Suv while trying to park her Mercedes in a Van Nuys, California car park.

And just last month (Apr08), the pop superstar reportedly caused a three-car pile-up on Los Angeles’ Ventura Freeway after accidentally bumping another motorist in heavy traffic.

In better news for the singer Britney Spears’ her second appearance on U.S. sitcom How I Met Your Mother has further impressed the show’s producers, who think her performance as ditzy receptionist Abby was even better than her debut..

Even by Monaco standards, it wasn’t your ordinary dinner party for 12 on Friday night – though there was cake and champagne.

To celebrate his 48th birthday, U2 frontman Bono held a small dinner party at Sass’ Café in Monaco. On the guest list: Brad Pitt, Monaco’s Prince Albert II and The Edge.

“It was really quite a surprise,” the café’s maitre de tells PEOPLE. “It wasn’t organized in advance. We only got called on it that afternoon.”

Despite Pitt’s presence, Angelina Jolie, who had visited Bono in Eze with her children last Sunday, remained at home.

The sit-down dinner, arranged by Bono’s wife Ali Hewson, began with red wine at 10 p.m., according to staff, even before The Edge arrived for the evening. The meal was followed by a champagne toast and strawberry cake lit with candles; a staffer described the party as “tres speciale.”

No word on what gifts Bono received – but what do you give a man who has his own rock band and has already been nominated for the Nobel Prize?

Hugh Hefner wants 15-year-old Miley Cyrus to pose naked in Playboy.

The 82-year-old tycoon thinks the ‘Hannah Montana’ star - who recently caused controversy by posing in just a blanket in Vanity Fair magazine for photographer Annie Leibovitz - would be a hit with readers of the adult magazine when she turns 18.

He said: “She would be welcomed in the magazine. She’s a very pretty lady.”

Hugh - who has three live-in girlfriends - also insists he can’t understand the fuss caused over the Vanity Fair shoot.

He added to US TV show ‘Extra’: “I think to make such a big to-do over something as innocent as those photos. I think is a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality.”

If Miley accepts Hugh’s offer, she would be the latest in a long line of celebrities to appear in the magazine.

CLEARWATER, Fla.  —  A judge in Florida says the 17-year-old son of wrestler Hulk Hogan should serve eight months in jail for reckless driving.

Nick Bollea was led off to begin his sentence immediately after the ruling Friday afternoon. He will also be on five years of probation and lose his driving privileges for three years.

Authorities say in August, Bollea was racing a friend in his father’s sports car when he clipped a curb, spun out of control and slammed into a palm tree.

The impact left his friend, John Graziano, critically injured and in need of lifetime medical care.

Bollea pleaded no contest to the reckless driving charge.

Unlike his new single Love In This Club, which talks of his desire to have a sexual encounter in a nightclub, the singer swapped dancefloors for aeroplanes on one occasion.

But the R&B artist claims his love-making wasn’t on a charter flight with many passengers, “The mile high club? I say yeah man. It was a private flight though!”

Lindsay Lohan’s enemies are coming out of hiding in the wake of her fur-coat controversy – and now a model is rehashing her claims that Lohan stole her clothing as well.

The same week a Columbia University student insisted Lohan swiped her $11,000 blond mink coat in New York City earlier this year, model Lauren Hastings says on the buzznet.com Web site that Lindsay lifted thousands of dollars worth of items from her closet, Inside Edition reports.

“Basically, I have two closets, a lot of the stuff was missing out of one and the next closet was almost completely empty,” Hastings says on a video featured on the buzznet site, claiming her things disappeared during an unauthorized late-night party tossed by her housesitter.

Citing five witnesses, Hastings, 23, also alleges, “They all said they saw Lindsay Lohan basically in my closet, handing a bag of clothes to her bodyguard.”

In an email to PEOPLE, Lohan’s rep responds: “This is all not true. It’s not what it seems.”

Police reportedly searched for the missing items, but they were not recovered. According to documents that Inside Edition obtained from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, Hastings did report the theft of clothing, but the DA’s office pressed no charges against Lohan, due to insufficient evidence.

This girl loves to strut her stuff for guys in uniform, and we’re sure she didn’t disappoint last night when she performed “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’.” While the spotlight often seems to be focused on the older Simpson sister, Jess couldn’t help spilling one little secret about Ashlee’s wedding — unsurprisingly, Jess will serve as the maid of honor for the ceremony. Now, if only Jess would open up about whether or not Ashlee is going to need a maternity wedding gown.

Like most everyone else, Marie Osmond has an opinion of the Miley Cyrus photos for Vanity Fair. And it’s not positive.

What particularly upsets the entertainer (who is herself a mother), is that such an experienced showbiz parent as Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, would leave his 15-year-old alone during a photo shoot.

“My parents never, never left us alone,” Osmond, 48, tells AOL Television. “We always had some form of a guardian or something with us, a guardian that would represent what they would have done.”

In Miley’s case, says Osmond, “her dad stepped out, and that’s when it happened. How do you say no to somebody like Annie [Leibovitz, the photographer] when you’re a little girl? It’s an interesting thing that happened with her.”

In actuality, Miley’s grandmother and teacher remained with the photo subject, as Billy Ray was called away to a business appointment, a source close to the family told PEOPLE – adding: “Billy Ray was not there for the shot. He would not have approved that shot if he was.”

Once the photos became public, Miley Cyrus apologized to fans, while Leibovitz said she was sorry the photos were misinterpreted.

A painting of late actor Heath Ledger has won a prestigious Australian art prize.

The portrait, titled Heath and painted by Ledger’s friend Vincent Fantauzzo, landed the prestigious People’s Choice honour at the Archibald Prize art awards on Friday (09May08) morning.
Ledger sat for the painting just weeks before he died of a drugs overdose in January (08), and the finished artwork sees the actor bare-chested and surrounded by two other whispering versions of himself.

Fantuazzo’s painting came second in the race for the main award - with a picture by Del Kathryn Barton taking the coveted Archibald Portrait Prize.

The artist turned down all offers to buy the picture - which drew record crowds to the exhibition - giving it instead to Ledger’s mother Sally, who decided to donate the canvas to the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
