Kate Winslet is going to keep her Oscar in the toilet.

The ‘Reader’ star, who won the Best Actress Academy Award at last week’s ceremony, is planning to display the famous statuette in an unusual place in her home.

Kate – who is married to Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes – said: “The statue is going in the toilet, next to Sam’s! I’m not taking it on a set. I’m just going to work the way I’ve always worked, which is just to get on with it.

“I hope it won’t change anything in how other directors and actors work with me.”

The 33-year-old actress also admitted she is tired of wearing lavish gowns to awards ceremonies and has joked she is planning to spend the next year in comfy pyjamas.

Kate – who has two children, eight-year-old Mia from a previous relationship and son Joe, five, with Sam – is keen to take a break from acting for a while and go on holiday with her family.

She explained to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “I am planning a summer of getting totally away from it all. We will probably rent a house in Italy and maybe visit our favourite haunt in Cornwall.”

Kate Winslet says her husband would leave her if she ever had plastic surgery.
The “Holiday” actress – who is married to film director Sam Mendes – insists she will never go under the surgeon’s knife because Sam would not approve. She told In Style magazine: “I am pathetically intrigued by the notion but Sam would leave me if I did anything like that.” The 31-year-old star is adamant she has no interest in changing her appearance because she is completely satisfied with her body and looks. Despite having a hugely successful movie career,Winslet insists she is happiest being a mother to her two children Alfie, three, and Mia, six – from previous marriage with film director Jim Threapleton. She explained: “Mia said to me the other day in the car, ‘Mom, I love your cooking.’ To me, it was an incredibly triumphant moment, the fact that she observed I do cook their meals.” “It’s great when the mom can be a person who represents those nurturing things for kids. My mom certainly was that.”

British actress Kate Winslet has spoken out over the ‘unbelievably disturbing’ trend of super thin stars.

The 31-year-old mother of two, who is currently promoting her film ‘The Holiday’, told BBC One’s Sunday AM that she resents the fact that the ‘image of perfection’ is ‘just getting thinner and thinner’.

‘Titanic’ star Kate said she has bucked this trend by refusing to give in to pressures to slim down to tiny sizes.
She hoped that ‘in some small way’, she has made a difference.

Kate explained that she does what she can in her house to keep things realistic. ‘We don’t have any magazines in the house,’ she said, adding that these publications are ‘damaging’.
‘I don’t want to be a finger pointer…but young girls are very impressionable,’ according to Kate.
She has a six-year-old daughter named Mia from her marriage to Jim Threapleton. Kate and hubby number two, Sam Mendes, has a son Joe, who is three.
