The Daily Mail reports that the Oscar-winning actress suffered injuries after she was hit by a radio during a fight scene as part of the performance. The show had to be cancelled after Blanchett was left with blood pouring from her head.

Blanchett, who plays Blanche DuBois in the play, was hurt during the scene with actor Joel Edgerton who plays Stanley Kowalski. Initially after the injury Blanchett had tried to continue with the performance but eventually she was forced to leave the stage.

Later a spokesperson for the theatre said “Cate’s just fine”. Last night’s show was expected to go ahead as planned.

Actress Cate Blanchett has put a stop to reports speculating about her expanding waistline by announcing that she is expecting her third child.

The Oscar winner, 38, first sparked pregnancy rumours in October, when she stepped out to promote her latest film ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ in Rome, Italy, sporting a sexy new fuller figure.

The star made the confession during a red-carpet appearance in Australia on Saturday, when she revealed she is four months pregnant – although she does not yet know the sex of the baby.

She says, “It’s early days yet. It’s due in April.”

Blanchett already has two children with her husband, playwright Andrew Upton: six-year-old Dashiell and three-year-old Roman.
