“We just finalized a deal with Anne tonight to come onto the show,” creator Ryan Murphy told PEOPLE on Sunday at the Golden Globe awards, where “Glee” was named best comedy or musical for the second straight year.

“She’s already created [her role],” Murphy said. “She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt.”

Hathaway, 28, isn’t the only star to seek a guest spot on the show. Plenty of others pitched Murphy on Sunday. “They always do,” he said. “I can’t even think of who. But it’s so sweet. I think they support the show because it’s about the arts.”

“Glee” outdid itself at the Golden Globes in its sophomore season, as Colfer and Jane Lynch were first-time winners in the supporting actor and actress categories — further sweetening the show’s repeat victory as best comedy or musical.

“Whenever you do something twice, it proves that the first time wasn’t a fluke,” Murphy said. “It means I dug in there and did some good work.”

At the Fox afterparty, Murphy still hadn’t fully celebrated with the cast, but he could barely contain his pride for what they’ve accomplished.

“I haven’t really seen them yet, because you win and then you’re whisked backstage and it’s a whirlwind,” he said. “But they’re all right over there. I’m going to go hug them and kiss them. They’re like our children. Look at them! Look at those faces! They are so young. God bless them.”

Aside from her IMF visit, Miss Hathaway also took time to participate in the “It Gets Better” campaign – which aims to help gay, bisexual and transgendered people find hope.

Created in response to the recent gay suicides, Anne joins celebs such as Ke$ha, Kristin Cavallari, Ian Somerhalder and Katerina Graham in a one-minute video urging troubled individuals to reach out to the Trevor Project for the help in which they need.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday the unidentified cyclist ran into Hathaway’s car on Wednesday as the car made a right turn.

The Oscar-nominated star was a passenger in her black Audi being driven by her boyfriend Adam Shulman.

Whitmore says investigators determined the rider was a paparazzo because he was carrying a camera with a long lens.

Witnesses told deputies he was traveling fast but there was enough time for him to avoid the crash.

Whitmore says the paparazzo was at fault but no arrests were made.

Despite her recent split from longtime boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, the actress has been hitting the promotional circuit, appearing with costar Steve Carell on Wednesday night at the Apple store in Manhattan.

A few hundred people lined up for the event, which was moderated by Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert. Hathaway, 25, made no mention of Follieri and laughed throughout the evening.

The star was a bit more reserved during her appearance on The View on Thursday morning, which she pre-taped Wednesday before the Apple store appearance.

“My personality is very kind of, you know, girlish, bubbly,” she told the panelists, before adding, “Not today…I’m kind of somber today.”

Cohost Joy Behar then asked, “Mood swings?” to which Hathaway replied, “Let’s not go there.”
