Bronx Mowgli – who actually turned one on Friday (20.11.09) – was treated to a ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’-themed bash at his grandparents Joe and Tina Simpson’s house in Encino, California, which even included an impersonator dressed as the goofy, yellow sea sponge.
Pete thanked his friends and family on Twitter for a “rad b-day for Bronx. (sic)”
The tot was joined by 30 family and friends – including his pop star aunt Jessica Simpson – who tucked into birthday cake and played on a giant bouncy castle.
Last week, Pete revealed his plans behind opting for the cartoon theme.
He said: “Bronx likes Bob and he likes guitar – which he calls ‘itar’ so we’re going to have a SpongeBob party for him.”
Pete was not Bronx’s only family member to talk about his birthday celebration on Twitter.
Ashlee wrote: “BX’s 1st bday tomorrow! My angel is going to be a year!! The greatest year of my life (sic)”
Jessica added: “Happy Birthday to my precious angel on earth!!! Bronx is 1 today!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! I can’t believe it has been a year already. (sic)”

Their representative says the pop and rock star couple have named their son Bronx Mowgli. The baby, born Thursday night, weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

Bronx is the first child for Simpson-Wentz, best known for the hit “Pieces of Me,” and Wentz, bassist for the platinum rock band Fall Out Boy. They were married earlier this year.

Their representative said in a statement: “Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!”

Fall Out Boy rocker Wentz has been by his wife’s side throughout, according to Access Hollywood, skipping appearances on “Larry King Live” and the final episode of “Total Request Live” on Friday and Sunday, respectively, to wait for the baby.

Ashlee’s husband Pete apparently has trying getting the baby to come out by natural means, but the baby hasn’t budged.

A source close to Pete told Life and Style Weekly magazine: “Pete texted his friends last night that Ashlee is in labour!”

The rumour was further fuelled after Pete wrote on his blog he would be cancelling his scheduled appearance on ‘Larry King Live’ “due to breaking news and scheduling conflicts”.

It has since been reported that Ashlee has now given birth to her baby.
However, a representative for the 24-year-old singer has denied the claims, adding to US TV show ‘Access Hollywood’ that Ashlee “has not yet gone into labour”.

After enjoying some couple time, at least one half of this newlywed duo is off to Chicago for the weekend, where Pete will be throwing parties to celebrate Lollapalooza, complete with a secret concert of some sort. Whether or not his expecting wife Ashlee will be up for the travels, the hip parents-to-be aren’t letting impending parenthood change their rock star lives.

“I think that that’s something that a woman should do when they’re marrying a man,” she tells PEOPLE. “It’s a tradition that I think is a great tradition.”

The singer, whose May 17 wedding featured an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception, says that privately she’ll go by Ashlee Wentz and professionally she’ll be Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

Pete Wentz says he left the name change decision to his wife. “These decisions with Ashlee and her name are all completely up to Ashlee,” Wentz says. “I want her to do these kinds of things the way she wants to do them.”

Still, he admits, he was flattered. “Oh man, I was like upgrade me! You know what I’m saying? The Wentz family, our Christmas card just got upgraded!” he says. “It feels insane. It feels unreal.”

Now, if only Jess would open up about whether or not Ashlee is going to need a maternity wedding gown.

In Touch can exclusively reveal that Ashlee Simpson is engaged to boyfriend Pete Wentz! “He got down on one knee and she said yes,” a family friend tells In Touch. The couple went away to Colorado just days ago where Pete’s brother had an art exhibit, and that is where Pete, 28, popped the question to Ashlee, 23. “She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love,” adds the friend.
