“I think that [Matt Damon] has been very courageous in not caring about who he offends by saying the things that need to be said here, and if you want to win, the Republicans have certainly shown the way — that when you run someone who is popular, you win,” Moore recently said. “Sometimes even when you run an actor, you win. And I guess I only throw his name out there because I’d like us to start thinking that way.”

Not only is 40-year-old Damon involved in many causes, such as the need for clean water worldwide, he generally doesn’t bite his tongue when it comes to the issues.

Recently, he defended tenure-seeking teachers to a conservative reporter, and he argued that wealthy people like himself should be paying more taxes.

“The wealthy are paying less than they paid at any time else, certainly in my lifetime, and probably in the last century,” he said. “I don’t know what we were paying in the roaring ’20s; it’s criminal that so little is asked of people who are getting so much. I don’t mind paying more.”

He’s also taken aim at one of his former pet causes — President Barack Obama. He used to support the President, but he’s had issues with Obama’s relationship with Wall Street and his stance on education.

“I really think he misinterpreted his mandate. A friend of mine said to me the other day, I thought it was a great line, ‘I no longer hope for audacity,’ ” he told Piers Morgan in March. “He’s doubled down on a lot of things, going back to education … the idea that we’re testing kids and we’re tying teachers salaries to how kids are performing on tests, that kind of mechanized thinking has nothing to do with higher order. We’re training them, not teaching them.”

Whether you agree with him or not, Damon does have an eloquent way of speaking his mind. He’s also married with four kids (three biological), went to Harvard (didn’t graduate) and won an Oscar (for writing, not acting).

A baseball wife-swap story called The Trade was the original project he considered for himself and Ben Affleck in lead roles. But due to legal issues, the film is on hold, per Vulture in New York magazine.

According to that report, Damon stated, “I am coming closer to a directorial thing. I’ve got a few things that I really want to direct, and one I’m actually going to start at the first quarter of next year.” The actor added, “John Krasinski’s in it.”

Father Daughter follows a man on a multi-state crime spree with his daughter in tow. It has not been revealed if Damon will star in the film, too.

After working with directors like Martin Scorsese (The Departed), Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan), the Coen Brothers (True Grit), and Steven Soderbergh (Che: Part Two), Damon will join Ben Affleck, his fellow Oscar-winner for the Good Will Hunting screenplay, behind the camera.

Krasinski, a regular on The Office, will also appear in The Muppets in November.

Damon was recently in The Adjustment Bureau, costarring with Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt. He will next star in Steven Soderberg’s Contagion costarring Kate Winslet and Jude Law on October 21 and Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo with Scarlett Johansson opening December 23.

The actor and Luciana, who attended the Empire film awards in London last night, have excitedly confirmed they will be soon welcoming a new addition to their family.

Representative for the couple Jennifer Allen said: “They are expecting their second baby and couldn’t be happier – they are so excited.”

Matt, 37, and Luciana, 32, already have a one-year-old daughter, Isabella, while Luciana also has a nine-year-old daughter Alexia from her previous marriage.

The actor – who collected the Best Film award for his action thriller ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ – revealed he would prepared to reprise his role as Jason Bourne for a fourth film.

Speaking last night, he said: “I think it’s one of these stories that has a life of its own. Not that we’re against it, we’re all for doing a fourth movie but it means coming up with a good story. There are a lot of things that would have to happen before we would sign up for it.”

Matt is currently filming new thriller ‘Green Zone’ in Morocco.

For Matt Damon, being a family man means having less time to work out.

The actor and father of 1-year-old Isabella tells the UK’s Sunday Express that before his daughter was born all he did was work, exercise and sleep – but now life has more to it.

“I really used to have no life outside movies. I’d work all day, go to the gym and go to sleep,” says Damon, 36, who married his wife Luciana in December 2005. (She also has a daughter, Alexia, from a previous marriage.) “Now I have a place to be so I come home after work.”

And Damon says he’d rather be with his family than at the gym. “I’ve had the same personal trainer on all the Bourne films but once he left this time, that was it for me and working out because I wanted to get home to see my daughter before she went to sleep.”

There are consequences to dropping his workout schedule that careful viewers may spot during The Bourne Ultimatum. “Towards the end of filming they had to shoot around my belly,” Damon jokes. “If you pay close attention you’ll see the zipper on my jacket creeping up and up. I had to keep that jacket on.”

There are on-screen benefits to having Isabella around, though.

“Halfway through the movie [director] Paul Greengrass looked at me and said, ‘You look terrible,’ ” says Damon. “I told him, ‘I’m sorry. I’m awake all night with the baby,’ to which he said, ‘No, it’s really good. She came along just at the right time – she’s really helping your performance,’ ”

In the previous two Bourne films, “I’d have to achieve that same ragged look by staying out all night in Paris,” adds Damon.

Though The Bourne Ultimatum was shot in at least eight different countries, Damon managed to be apart from his family just once.

“The only time they haven’t come with me was for the Tangier sequence of this film and as soon as I got there I realized it was a mistake,” he says. “Being apart wasn’t good for any of us, so now they come everywhere with me.”

You have to admire a guy who has his priorities straight when it comes to family.

The actor deliberately tries to have a dull persona because he believes it stops him from attracting unwanted attention.

He told Esquire magazine “I’ve always played characters that have interested me, and I’ve got to work with directors like Soderbergh, Coppola, Spielberg, Redford, Minghella, Scorese and then De Niro, so I’ve done OK. But it’s fine if people think I’m boring. That’s a good thing.

“You want to protect your family but I’ve always tried to present this boring persona. Early in my career, my ex-girlfriend, Minnie Driver, said that if I want to protect myself I should create this other, dull identity. We came up with a name, and she had a badge made for me that spelled it out, and I’d slip into this persona when I did interviews. It worked, so I’ve kept that going throughout my entire working life.”

Matt – who has a baby daughter with wife Luciana Barroso – says he could never cope with the intense level of fame that surrounds Angelina Jolie, his co-star in ‘The Good Shephard’.

Her good looks and undeniably hot body are apparently not enough for Matt to get over the fact that she is the girlfriend of one of his best friends: Brad Pitt.
The pair appear together in The Good Shepherd and Matt had previously worked with Brad in the Ocean’s Eleven films.
“Doing a love scene with the girlfriend of a good friend is weird. We all know each other,” Matt told US TV show Good Morning America.
But it seems that Angelina does not have the same problem about getting up close and personal with her friends on screen.
“In reality both the people we’re involved with couldn’t have cared less about that because they know us,” she said.
“It’s one of those things where it’s like the least threatening person. The difference between kissing Matt and kissing Brad is simple: One’s a friend and one’s my lover.”
