The list is compiled by Forbes based on earnings made during the period between May 1, 2010, and May 1, 2011. According to Forbes magazine, the estimations are made based on interviews with agents, lawyers, producers and other industry insiders.

NBC, FOX ANNOUNCE NEW SCHEDULES: This week, the broadcast television industry is busy unveiling fall schedules to advertisers in hopes of attracting millions of dollars for commercials. Considering that most new TV shows typically crash and burn, it’s sort of like selling swamp land in Florida.

NBC, which has suffererd almost as many losing seasons as the Warriors, is counting on 12 new shows — including a raft of romantic comedies — to lift the network from its miserable slump. One of NBC’s new series is “The Playboy Club,” a 1960s-era drama set in Chicago’s bunny world that sounds like an easy excuse to squeeze more cleavage into prime time.

NBC also renewed Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” which will return a midseason replacement now that The Donald has ruled out a run for the presidency.

In order to make room for the new inventory, NBC axed several shows, including “The Event,” “Law & Order: Los Angeles” and “Outsourced.”

Meanwhile, Fox is placing a lot of faith in Simon Cowell and Steven Spielberg next fall. Cowell returns with “The X Factor,” the highly hyped “American Idol” wannabe that will undoubtedly unleash more atrocious singers on America. Spielberg is the executive producer of “Terra Nova,” a drama that sends a futuristic family back to prehistoric times.

JERRY LEWIS QUITTING TELETHON: After 45 years, Jerry Lewis is retiring as host of the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Labor Day telethon, the 85-year-old comedian and Las Vegas resident announced Monday.

He says he’ll make his final appearance on the six-hour prime-time telethon Sept. 4 by performing his song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Lewis says he’ll continue as the association’s national chairman, a role he’s held since the early 1950s.

EWWWW: Animal rights groups are upset at celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, filmed eating the still-beating heart of a snake for British television.

Ramsey, 44, was filmed reluctantly swallowing the heart after watching the struggling creature being slit open at his table in a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The rest of the snake was then served, including a glass of bile, Britain’s The Guardian newspaper reported. The restaurant specializes in reptile cuisine.

“Clearly Gordon Ramsay is complicit in an act of cruelty to an animal, something that would be a criminal offence if it happened in Britain,” said Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid. “Snakes can feel pain like any other animal, and there is no excuse for this.”

The scene was to air Monday on Britain’s Channel 4 as part of Ramsey’s latest series, “Gordon’s Great Escape.” Last week’s episode of “Gordon’s Great Escape” featured him eating “a raw duck foetus” in Cambodia. No report of a refreshing bile chaser.

But now when he looks back, he wishes that at 18 – he could have started living his life much earlier.

“When I was growing up I felt like a complete freak. I wish I had known that there were a lot of people out there like me, feeling the same way, the Sun quoted Depp as saying.

“I locked myself in my bedroom and played my guitar. It seemed as if I was in there for two or three years!

Depp admits that meeting the love of his life partner Vanessa Paradis, 38, and then becoming father to children Lily-Rose, 11, and Jack, 9, made him realise what the important things are in life.

“We need to rethink how to live. I wish I could have known at 18 that I would one day live in France and meet the love of my life.

“Having kids also changed my life for the better. Being with my family makes me happy – and shows in my face. I feel young and happy,” he added.

Rather than retell the tale, Burton picks up where others have left off. A 19-year-old Alice finds her way back to the magical land of her youth, reuniting with old friends to end the Red Queen’s reign.

Burton jokes of choosing Depp for the Mad Hatter character, saying, “After he lobbied for Alice, we went to the next logical character.”

Depp explains why he continues to work with Burton, telling Mary, “The atmosphere that he creates for that set is so conducive to creating essentially whatever you want and not being afraid to try something. … There is the element of trust that’s there.”

Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose dreams of following her parents into show business – she has her heart set on becoming a pop star.

Both the seven-year-old’s parents have pursued a career in music: mother

Vanessa Paradis had her first hit single, Joe le Taxi, in her native France at the tender age of 14, while star Johnny Depp fronted numerous rock bands, including The Kids, before becoming an award-winning actor.

But Paradis hopes little Lily-Rose will soon see sense before embarking on a music career.

She says, “I would love her to wait a little longer than I did.”

Johnny Depp, 44, is still keeping mum about the undisclosed illness which landed his daughter, Lily Rose, 8, in the hospital this spring – but he is opening up about the panic that he experienced.

“To say it was the darkest moment, that’s nothing,” Johnny told Entertainment Weekly. “It doesn’t come close to describing it. Words are so small.”

“Now every single millisecond is a mini-celebration,” said Johnny. “Every time we get to breathe in and exhale is a huge victory. She pulled through beautifully, perfectly, with no lasting anything.”

Johnny also has a son, Jack, 5, with longtime partner Vanessa Paradis.
