Stars across Hollywood have taken to the Internet in an outpouring of grief after hearing the news of Michael Jackson’s tragic death.

Fans and friends were left shaken on Thursday (25Jun09) as the news of the music icon’s fatal heart attack reverberated around the globe.

Jackson was rushed to Ucla Medical Center after falling into a deep coma following a cardiac arrest at his Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles. He was pronounced dead at 2.26 local time.

And as the news broke, celebrities from music, film and TV took to their Twitter.com blogs to explain how the Thriller legend had affected their lives and describe their devastation at his untimely demise.

Big screen veteran Jane Fonda was one of the first to express her upset, remembering the time Jackson came to live with her after he completed filming on his iconic Thriller video.

She writes, “I am stunned. My friend, Michael Jackson is dead. He lived with me for a week on the Golden Pond set after Thriller.”

Actress Demi Moore joined in with her husband Ashton Kutcher’s plea for the media to respect the privacy of Jackson’s three children, tweeting, “I plea to the public to refuse to consume media that does not respect the anonymity of Michael’s children.”

And young music stars, who had been inspired by the pop singer’s four-decade spanning career, joined in the tributes.

Miley Cyrus wrote, “Michael Jackson was my inspiration. Love and blessings,” while rocker John Mayer added, “I truly hope he is memorialised as the ‘83 moonwalking, Mtv owning, mesmerising, unstoppable, invincible Michael Jackson.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs explained how much he would miss the superstar: “Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!” And even the world of politics failed to escape feeling the overwhelming loss of pop’s greatest performer – former action star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sent out his thoughts to those closest to Jackson.

He adds, “We lost a great entertainer and a pop icon. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael Jackson’s family, friends and fans.”

“I would imagine his mother, sisters, brothers would rally around and care for the children,” Lester said. “The Jackson family is a very large family, and in times of need, families get together and put aside differences.”

The children, Lester added, “are the sweetest, happiest kids that you can imagine. They are not as you would perceive children of a superstar. They’re very bright and very dedicated children. They are three of the most adorable, nice children.”

ven as the world is struggling to come to terms with the reality that uncrowned King of Pop Michael Jackson is no more, his family and friends, suspecting foul play, have demanded an investigation into his death.

While US celebrity magazine Life & Style said a source told them that the eccentric artist had been popping pills, including anti-anxiety or sedative drugs Xanax and Zoloft and painkiller Demerol, for weeks before his death and that an overdose of the deadly cocktail could have caused respiratory and cardiac arrest, TMZ, the US celebrity website that has developed a reputation for showbusiness scoops, said a family source told them that Jackson receives a daily injection of Demerol and on Thursday he received a shot at 11:30 AM, shortly before he complained of breathlessness and collapsed into a coma, probably a result of massive cardiac arrest.

“Family members were concerned that Jackson was taking too much morphine and are saying that’s what caused his death,” TMZ reported.

The London Sun also said that Jackson, who had influenced a generation of singers and songwriters, had died of an overdose of Demerol. “Shortly after taking…Demerol, he started to experience slow, shallow breathing. His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped…His staff started mouth-to-mouth, and an ambulance was called, which got there in eight minutes,” the London Sun quoted an unnamed source as saying.

Brian Oxman, a family attorney, also said Jackson was dependent on prescription drugs and he was almost certain that a strong overdose of painkiller had taken his life.

On Thursday noon, Jackson collapsed and entered into deep coma and when his personal physician failed to revive him, paramedics were called to his Bel-Air mansion in the posh Holmby Hill to resuscitate him.

But when they failed in their effort, Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where the doctors struggled for over an hour to revive him but they too failed to revive him and he was pronounced dead at 2:26 pm.

Jackson, Oxman said, was addicted to painkillers from the pain he developed after he accidentally burned his face during a Pepsi commercial shoot in 1984.

“This (death) is not something that has been unexpected… because of the medications which Michael was under,” Oxman said, adding that the singer was especially addicted to Demerol, a powerful morphine-based painkiller, whose injection is known to have dangerous side effects including cardiac arrest if used wrongly.

Miley Cyrus, 16, is at the center of another controversy because of photos posted on director Adam Shankman’s yFrog page. In one pic, Miley is seen pressed up against Shankman in an inappropriate way.

Shankman has responded to the pictures, saying: “Miley is a sweet angel who works tirelessly and endlessly, and is allowed to have fun in the make up room! Seriously! Lighten up or no more behind the scenes pics! She’s like my angel little sister.”

Robert Pattinson, star of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and (currently filming) Remember Me has been hit by a taxi-cab, reports say.

Radar Online just reported the story that “he was hit by a taxi cab on Thursday while running away from hysterical fans!”

RadarOnline.com witnessed the Twilight star get clipped by a cab around noon in front of the Strand Bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street.

He was not hurt.

The 23-year-old London-born actor had been inside most of the morning filming scenes for his new movie Remember Me.

A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Rob was leaving the bookstore.

It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer.

Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Rob rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened.

It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed at the fans: “You see what you did, you almost killed him!”

It’s a good thing Pattinson was not injured as a result of this incident, but it only emphasizes the fact that fans of Pattinson and Twilight have absolutely got to leave this man alone right now.

This week’s earlier incident of girls groping him (as horrific as it was) is absolutely out-done by this news today. So, for the more mature and sympathetic fans out there, let your voices be heard and tell these people to back off and allow Pattinson to do his job, safely.

The 20-year-old Canadian actor and star of Year One talks about auditioning for The Sixth Sense, wanting to make an Arrested Development movie, and why Deal or No Deal is the best show on TV.

This plate is a little underexciting. I was expecting more green on it. These grape leaves are a shade of green, I suppose, but really, they’re almost black.

I wanted to be Dr. Pete Venkman when I grew up.

I hate auditions. I had a woman scream at me when I was nine years old for doing a voice my mother told me to do. The character’s name was PeeWee. So my mom said, “Maybe you should do a funny voice.” And then after, this casting woman, this mean, bitter old woman — I was scared to death of her — she said, “Michael, tell me about yourself, what do you like to do in your spare time?” In my regular voice, I said, “Um, you know, I like to play with my friends and stuff…” And she started screaming, “I knew it! Let me tell you something, young man. Acting is not about funny voices!” So that scared me from ever doing a funny voice again. I got that message loud and clear.

My uncle took me to Planet Hollywood, and we had dinner, and we talked about The Simpsons the whole time, and then I felt better.

I don’t know how they could ever think this was enough pita.

I poked the Pillsbury Doughboy. That was the first time I had lines. I was interacting with the Doughboy.

I auditioned for The Sixth Sense, which I didn’t know was about seeing dead people. They didn’t mention that in the breakdown. After seeing the movie, and remembering the scene they had me read… It was the scene with the penny. Bruce Willis is saying, “I can’t be your doctor anymore,” and Haley Joel Osment starts crying and slides the penny over to him. It’s a very emotional scene. And I did not do it that way. I did it upbeat. I said “Some magic’s real” very optimistically.

There is this strange sense of competition among child actors. There were a few kids, I knew if I saw them at the audition, they were going to get the part. Now they’re on Degrassi.

There are funny Canadians; there are unfunny Canadians. People here act like it’s such an achievement — “Oh my God, a Canadian is funny!” I mean, there are a lot more funny Americans. Why does nobody pick that up? I mean, really, there are a few funny Canadians, especially compared to the massive number of hilarious American people. “Oh, as it turns out, there are a few people in Canada who are worth watching.” That’s really what it comes down to.

I think prison might be one of my biggest fears. How can anyone do well in prison? Even to do well, you have to have a really bad life.

Haley Joel Osment is someone I think is going to make a very extreme comeback.

Deal or No Deal is the best show on television in any genre, no joke. I was watching it the other night, and this guy, he had a whole bunch of money. Like, $140,000. And here’s the thing: Have you ever lost $140,000 in a second? Can you even imagine that? All he had to do was push that button and say, “Yes, I’ll take this money that you’re giving me for no reason, for no labor.” That’s all he had to do, but he didn’t, and they took it away. And Howie Mandel — his only job on that show is to make the person think their decision is the wrong decision, whatever that decision happens to be. Howie Mandel is the devil.

I love Charles Grodin.

Arrested Development never felt safe. Even the first season, we did thirteen episodes, and we thought we’d never do a back nine. So I never thought in a million years we’d get to make three seasons. I was happy we got that far. I thought it was really good, and I’m really proud of it. I don’t think we made a bad episode.

Well, maybe. People want to make a movie. There are articles on the Internet that center me out as the reason it’s not being made. I don’t know where that stuff comes from. It could always fall through, but I think everyone wants to make it.

I got recognized from doing the show once in a while, by a type of person I could spot. I could tell when someone was an Arrested Development fan. They were normally very polite, and it was intimate. It was like a club. They would say things like, “Can you believe it? We couldn’t save it.” There was a real sense of teamwork. But when Superbad came out, there was no way to know. It was the hugest thing I’d ever done. Suddenly I had drunk guys coming up to me, high-fiving me, grabbing me, which was different from having a nice conversation with somebody about this show we both loved.

I just did a movie with Jack Black, Year One. Everybody loves Jack Black. And everybody knows him. People go crazy for him, and it made me realize how little right I have to complain about being recognized once in a while.

The gold paint was terrible. We did four days of paint. Which is four days spent trying to remove the paint, which is a terrible process. The worst part was, they put, like, gold powder on top of the gold paint to make it shimmery. And that stuff, if you scrape it, it turns into sandpaper. The first time I tried to wash it off, I cut my face all up. It looked like I’d been in a big fight, and it was just from removing makeup. And my armpits, oh my God… No matter how funny that scene turns out, I’ll never be able to laugh at it. It will always upset me.

What’s the difference between love and sex? That’s normally one of the questions? Really? I don’t think I’d like that guy very much. I would give a very literal answer to that.

I did a TV show for three years where, like, nobody cared about that stuff. Then I did a movie that was, like, a romantic movie — and people are so stupid. So many interviewers started asking the most basic questions they could think of. I hate when people do that. I can’t imagine doing that to another person. That says a lot to me about you as a human being if you’re going to ask a question like that just for the sake of your article. I don’t know if you read the Internet, but there are some really creepy people out there, and I just don’t want them to have that kind of information about me.

I play guitar. I play piano a little bit. I can’t read music, but I can learn a song piece by piece. I just play the same songs over and over. I got a new electric piano. It’s so great. It’s a Wurlitzer from the 1960s. I have one at my place in L. A., too. Here, I’ll show you a picture… This is my piano. The light’s kind of funny. Garry Shandling hits the perfect note for me. He’s a great writer, he writes great material, and he delivers it really well. It seems heartfelt. And I think he’s probably a good person. He seems like a real human being.

14 major NHL hockey players are suing a developer named Kenneth Jowdy for allegedly screwing them out of millions of dollars — and then blowing the cash on escorts, strippers and private jet rides for some of the biggest names in Major League Baseball history.

The list of NHL players includes some of the sport’s most famous guys — Michael Peca, Sergei Gonchar, Chris Simon, Greg deVries, Jason Woolley, Mattias Norstrom, Vladimir Tsyplakov, Jay McKee, Raymond Murray, Glen Murray, Bryan Berard, Dimitri Khristich, Jozef Stumpel and Darryl Sydor.

The players claim they each invested between $250,000 – $500,000 with Jowdy — who allegedly promised to use their money to develop a luxury golf course and resort.

Instead, the suit alleges the money was blown on private jets, 5-star hotels, and parties with various female porn stars, escorts, strippers, party girls and other women for MLB greats like “Roger Clemens, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan and Pete Rose (to name a few).”

The NHL players are suing for at least $15 million.

UPDATE: Joe Morgan just sent us this statement: “It’s unethical to use my name when I never went to any of those parties, nor was I involved in any other activities.”

Paris Hilton is back on the market after splitting with her boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.

The heiress has been dating The Hills star since Christmas (08) and has publicly declared her love for him several times, calling him her “best friend” and “future husband”.

But the romance is over and the couple has called off its relationship.

A spokesperson for Hilton tells People.com, “In response to the enquiry on whether Paris Hilton has split up with Doug Reinhardt, yes, this is true they are no longer together.

“They remain friends and ask that you please respect their privacy.”

The announcement comes a day after Hilton insisted her boyfriend was “hotter” than Brad Pitt during an appearance on U.S. late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

In recent years, the fussy socialite has dated rocker Benji Madden, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, pop star Nick Carter and Pamela Anderson’s ex-husband Rick Solomon, who famously appeared alongside the party queen in her infamous sex tape footage.

The 27-year-old pop princess recently took a vacation in the Bahamas with her sons, Sean Preston, 3 and Jayden, 2. “They are totally and definitely dating,” a source told People. “Her dad loves him.
